Junior Baseball FAQs

Q: Do you keep score and are there umpires?

A: Yes. Managers maintain scorebooks, league standings are tracked, and playoff seeding is determined accordingly. A home plate umpire is provided.

Q: What size field do they play on?

A: Games are played on a regulation Little League field with 90' bases and a 60' 6" pitching distance.

Q: Can my child play with their friends?

A: Not automatically.
Players participate in a skills assessment, followed by a draft.

Players eligible for multiple divisions may be placed in a lower division based on demonstrated skill level during spring assessments. CLL strives to place each player in the most appropriate and competitive environment.

Q: Can I manage or coach a team?

A: Yes, if positions are available.

  • Prospective managers must complete an online application.

  • Coaching interest should be indicated during spring registration.

  • All managers and coaches must be approved by the CLL Board of Directors.

Q: Will my child play every inning?

A: Not necessarily.
No player will sit twice until all players have sat once.
This rule does not apply to starting pitchers and catchers.

Q: What are the volunteer requirements?

A: CLL is a fully volunteer-run organization. Opportunities include:

  • Registration support

  • Team parent roles

  • Opening Night and picture day assistance

  • Postseason tournament help

  • Concession stand coverage

Volunteer support is essential to keeping the league running smoothly and successfully.
