Division Description - Minor AA

9 & 10-Year-Old Minor AA Baseball

Overview:

  • Pitching distance: 46’

  • No leading off bases

  • Teams play under official Little League Blue Book rules

  • Players are eligible for District All-Stars by spring nomination


Season

  • Spring: Early March – Early June

  • Fall: Early September – Early November

Games

  • 10–12 regular season games (6–8 in Fall)

  • Weekday games generally start at 6 PM

  • Saturday games scheduled between 9 AM – 5 PM

  • Game length: No new inning after 1 hr 45 min

  • Playoffs: Double elimination tournament at end of Spring season only

  • Makeup games may be scheduled Sunday afternoons/evenings (after 1 PM)

Practice

  • One weekday and one weekend per week for 3–4 weeks before season

  • Additional practices during the season at the manager’s discretion

Uniforms

  • CLL provides jersey and hat

  • Jerseys include names (Spring only) and numbers

  • Rubber cleats recommended

Playing Equipment

  • Parents must provide:

    • Ball glove

    • Batting helmet

    • USA Baseball-certified bat (Bat Rules)

  • Catchers encouraged to have own equipment

  • Boys must wear athletic supporter/cup

Team Structure

  • 11–12 players

  • 1 volunteer manager

  • 2 volunteer coaches

  • 1 volunteer team parent


Minor Baseball FAQs

Q: Do you keep score and are there umpires?
A: Yes. Every manager maintains a scorebook. Standings determine the regular-season winner and playoff games. Home plate umpire provided. (Standings and playoffs only in Spring season)

Q: What size field do they play on?
A: Bases are 60’ apart, pitching rubber is 46’ from home plate, regulation Little League field.

Q: Can my child play on a team with friends?
A: Only if drafted onto that team. Players’ skills are evaluated in a skills assessment, followed by a draft (Spring season only).

Q: Can I manage or coach a team?
A: Yes, if positions are available. Managers must complete an online application. Coaches should indicate interest on child’s spring registration. All approvals are required by the Chesterfield Little League Board of Directors.

Q: Will my child play all the time?
A: No. No player sits twice until all have sat once, except pitcher and catcher.

Q: What are the volunteer requirements?
A: CLL is all-volunteer. Opportunities include registration, team parenting, opening night, post-season tournaments, concessions, and more.
